Are you dizzy with excitement about nail polish?


Hooray for the weekend!  And double hooray for not having to work tomorrow!!  I want to catch up a little, since I have some pictures of recent manis that haven't been posted yet.  Here are two from the past week.  First up is OPI DS Treasure.


It really is a treasure to me!  

I like to pretend that I'm special for having it.

This is three coats.  So shimmah-ry!  It looks like a golden, mid-tone orange in most lighting.


Here is a layer combination:  Sephora by OPI (which I will from now on refer to as $OPI) Ocean Love Potion with $OPI Lagoon-a Beach.  Only one coat of each!





I couldn't tell you why it looks like there is a crease/dent across my index fingernail.  I noticed it after I took the pictures and then it was gone by the time the polish had dried completely.  I really don't think I dented it or anything like that.  Strange!  Ghosty dent.  I could handle a million ghost dents, I think, as long as my nails looked smooth when dry.  

I maaaaay or maaay not have purchased large amounts of nail polish online over the past week!  (read:  I did.)  I look forward to posting pictures of Barry M and the BB Couture for Nails limited edition Hot Rod collection soon!!



I hope you like the new look of DizzyNails.  I don't think I'll be changing things around much more, save for if I ever figure out how to get the fonts I want!  I really love the night scene here, which is fitting as I do much of my blogging at night.  :)

This is a China Glaze polish from the Summer Days collection.  It's called Grape Juice and I just love it!  It's super super shimmery and it wore extremely well on me despite an all-night cleaning marathon at work.  I changed it up with my topcoat, too, though, so I have to give some credit to Nubar Diamont!  Maybe the two together are an unstoppable combo.

Here is a pink stunner from Dior, Garnet, which I believe is from the Spring '09 collection, limited edition for Macy's.  I got this months ago and only just a few days ago wore it for the first time.  Quite lovely!  

I couldn't leave well enough alone, of course.  I added a coat of OPI DS Shimmer!

I hope you had a good holiday weekend!  I did.  On Saturday my folks invited us over for a family cook out.  I was looking forward to Mom's awesome potato salad, but oh no, there wasn't any to be had!  I forgive you, Mom.  She puts green olives in it, too, which is a bit of an annoyance for me since I don't much care for 'em...

Now this is a green olive to die for!  BB Couture for Nails Iced Olive.  Two coats of loveliness.










Despite the fact that this shade of green doesn't really suit my skin tone, I am rather enjoying this mani.  It applied very effortlessly.  Truth be told, I did not have any clean up.  None!!


I took these pictures when the collection first came out, maybe a couple of months ago.  It's such a great collection!  I really love every color in it (which is pretty unusual).

If I recall correctly, I did two coats on all except 05, 03, 02, and 01, where I did three.  I absolutely LOVE the brush on these!  It's kind of wide and flat, but not as wide as the OPI pro-wide brush.  It's just nearly perfect.  The formula is nice and they look so pretty in any lighting.  My only complaint is the price!  I believe I paid around seven bucks each.  *ouch*  Why, Sally, why?!?  You only want two dollars for gorgeous Xtreme-Wears and five more for the HDs?  Hardly seems fair.  :(


Here is Three D with Nfu-Oh 49 on top.  I think my fingers are all contorted and crazy lookin' because I was trying to show off the magical iridescence of the flakies.  



And then I added Konad with m64 and used Konad Princess polish in gold/black.  It was kind of smudgy and less than perfect, but still fun.  


I have the song "Yankee Doodle Dandy" stuck in my head right now.  Oy!


This is my second ever Independence Day koni (short for konadicure).  I hope you like it.  I started with two coats each of OPI DS Fantasy and China Glaze Ruby Pumps.  Both applied excellently, I'm happy to say!

I then added the shooting star design from plate m33 using Konad Special White polish.

Next, I added more stars using two different designs from plate m3 with Konad Special Silver polish.  Got a little carried away here.  :)

And then I painted on white stripes to the Ruby Pumps fingers using a white Stripe Rite polish I got at Sally Beauty Supply.  This was my first time using a Stripe Rite and I was very pleased with how easy it is.  It's basically like normal polish but comes with a really long, skinny brush.  The formula is smooth and almost totally opaque.

You will notice my right hand below.  Mostly I just wanted to reassure my readers that I in fact do have a right hand.  :)

The big white star on my ring finger smudged a little.  I have no idea why, but at least it's not terrible.

I am in shock about having to get up at 5:30 tomorrow morning for an early work shift.  I haven't been getting up early for quite some time!  *sigh*  My only consolation is that I will have these pretty little fingers to look at.


Apparently it's getting to be that time of the year when folks in the U.S. are thinking about fireworks, freedom, and hot dogs.  That's right.  The 4th of July is almost here!  

This is three coats of Misa Heaven White.  I was really digging it on its own.  It was strangely chic, clean, and comforting.  The application was a bit of a chore, just in trying to make sure everything was even and smooth. 



Now on to the fun stuff!  You fine folks have not seen any of my Konad skills as of yet.  I have not had my Konad Stamping Nail Art for very long, but quickly learned to love and appreciate its awesomeness.  I'm still learning as I go, picking up tips and tricks along the way.  

I used Konad Special polishes in red and blue.  The fireworks design, which I think is actually supposed to be rain, is from plate M8.  The placement on this one was slightly tricky for me.  

The index finger has the firework coming off the side while all the other fingers have it coming out from the base of my nail.  Oops.  I'm okay with it, though.  

I apologize for some of the pictures being out of focus.  I was having a hard time getting my camera to cooperate with me tonight!

Oh yes!  And then I added stars with plate m11.

I didn't take any pictures before the JUNK, but it was kind of too crisp and was crying out for shiny sparkles, "Help me!  I need Bllliiiiinnngg!"

After all, fireworks are all about pizazz.  I love my BB Couture for Nails Hollywood Junk.  Just one coat and POW!  I can almost smell the burning chemicals.

This was a lot of work and a ton of fun.  Totally worth it.  The only thing that could have made it better, in my weirdo opinion, is if the base of Hollywood Junk was totally clear.  It's a champagne color and shows slightly peachy-pinky odd against the white.  Not a big deal.

I did experiment with trying to stamp on some silver holo stars using China Glaze OMG, but it was a total no-go.  I could only just barely see it.  

I'm going to have some more fun with an Independence Day theme this week, so definitely come back to see more red-white-blue-and-bling manis!
 

P.S.  If you noticed my little lady up top, well, I just want you to know that I'm still working out my format here and am trying to find a good way to incorporate her into this blog.  I will probably end up changing my template and layout soon.  Thanks for the suggestion, Joan!  :)
