LE Givenchy and MAC Fall Mani

Hey hey heeeeyyyy. This is MAC Fierce Entrance with Givenchy Bronze Précieux. I used two coats of each polish. Application was great on both!

This was my first time doing a two-finger accent mani, as such. I liked it!

I think Fierce Entrance is a really stupid name, honestly, but I adore this color. Love love love! Bronze Précieux is not as golden olivey awesome as it looks in the bottle, but it's still very nice. I'm always drawn to dark olive/khaki/army green kind of colors, despite them not looking too great against my pale pink skin.

Please pardon my dry skin here and my absence as of late! I really need to step it up!

Why MAC Polish Hates Me

....and I hate it right back!! Ugh. This is MAC Biker Blue. I just HAD to have it, even though I'm certain I have dupes. I did three coats here.

It was surprisingly sheer.

A couple of terrific gals on MUA suggested that I layer Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure over it.

I did, and here is the result.

There were some very scary sore looking cuticle spots that I tried to blur out for your viewing comfort. :/

But here is why MAC polish hates me! It started lifting at the corners, in a major way, in less than 24 hours of wear (even with my new-found love base coat, Palladio Fuse)! What the H?!

I should have known. This happened to me with the last MAC polish I wore, Bad Fairy.

I guess I thought with the new awesome-sauce base coat, it might just act right.

Not so much. It's a bummer, too, because it was a fun mani and I'm sad I only got to wear it for a day. Ah well....onto bigger and better things (I hope!). :)

Mega Orange

Here's an orange mega glitter look I did using MAC's Imperial Flower (two coats) and OPI's Extrava-vaganza (one coat).

Imperial Flower is super bright and vibrant with a lovely shimmer.

Extrava-vaganza has predominantly orange glitter with silver, gold, green, and pink, I believe.

Just like the other Burlesque glitters, it's very jam packed full of glitter and is almost opaque in just one coat. I like to layer them over other colors, obviously.

This is my crazy party pumpkin look.

I don't know that I'll be reaching for either of these too often, just because I don't tend to favor oranges. But they are fun and lovely, nonetheless!

'Twas a Bad Fairy

Bad Fairy. Are you completely tired of this one yet?

I used three coats here.

I bought this around 1 PM of the day the collection released. I got it at Nordstrom. It was the last one. Zoinks!

I'm pretty sure I came home from work that night and changed my nails to this. I'm just really behind on my posts!

I like this color a lot - especially in pictures - but, on my nails it just didn't amaze me as much as I'd hoped it would.

It doesn't help that MAC polishes don't tend to wear well on me. I had a decently large chip by the morning after I put it on. It was lifting and peeling at the corners before 24 hours.

Maybe I just haven't found the right combination of bases and tops to use with it? In any case, this was definitely a BAD Fairy.

More Blue

I was still in my blue phase! I started with two coats of MAC Ming Blue.

This has a good application and is quite pigmented.

For bling, I used Kleancolor Starry Meteor, one coat.

Nice! I like it!

Kleancolor makes some really unique and cool glitters!

I love the intense silver glitter. It's so shiny!

Folks, this fine post comes to you all the way from Slippery Rock, PA! I'm on a little vacay, visiting my best bud until Tuesday. I haven't been back to the Pittsburgh area since I moved just over two years ago! I'm looking forward to visiting some old haunts and seeing good friends. :) Off to the 'Burgh and the Zoo!

More Flakes and Whatnot

The first mani you're seeing is four coats of NYX Paradise and one coat of Chanel Illusion D'Or.

I did this mani twice in a row because when I was nearly finished the first time, the NYX bottle knocked over and spilled all over the floor (and my p.j. pant leg)!

You ever try cleaning up a spill with freshly painted, still wet nails? Yeah, doesn't work.

Anyway, this was pretty and I enjoyed it.

Here I did Inglot 320, two coats, topped with a coat of Inglot 203.

The flakes on top of the frost gave it quite a bit of texture, but I still think it's kind of cool!

It reminds me of a crazy Christmas Tree ornament my mom has. It's a metallic, frosty pickle. Yeah, a pickle. Something to do with a German tradition or...something.

Then I threw on a coat of China Glaze Sour Apple and a coat of Matte Magic!

Still looking like crazy pickles, but fun no less.

What do you think? Totally bonkers?

This is my current mani, MAC Originality, two coats. It's a coppery frost with copper flakes.

It is a dead-one match for Urban Decay's Baked color! I have the eye shadow and the eyeliner. I think of them as my Baked nails.

I love this color, but am not in love with it on my skin tone. I think it's do-able, though.

Also reminds me of shiny pennies...with texture.

Here is a relatively un-extraordinary picture of me wearing MAC Baby Goth Girl over some random pink Essie whose name I cannot recall. It was a vivid pink creme and I was hoping that by layering Baby Goth Girl over it the effect would be closer to how BGG looks in the bottle. No such luck! It's a great polish, very pretty, but definitely one of those where you really wish it looked like it does in the bottle when it's on your nails! I may continue to experiment with it in the future.
