It's day six of my wear of the Sally Hansen appliques in the Cut It Out design. They looked a little shabby this morning, starting to crack just a little in some areas, so I decided to spruce them up with some bloody jelly-licious OPI Red Shatter.

I wasn't sure if the Shatter would crack well if I put it straight on the appliques, so I painted on a coat of CND effects in Silver Sparkling first. It's very subtle. Then, a coat of Red Shatter. Then, a coat of Gelous, followed by Seche Vite.

I really like how it turned out! I unintentionally did thinner coats of Shatter on my right hand, and it shattered more, but with slightly smaller spaces in between. Since I did thicker coats on the left hand (as seen in the first two pictures above), the cracks are bigger, but the red doesn't look quite as piece-y.

Above is a picture of my oft neglected right hand, to show the difference in how it shattered. I like both, honestly! I can't say which I like better. I have to tell you, I really ridiculously love the jelly shatters. And I love this bloody lookin' crazy manicure. :)

On an only slightly related note, I just ordered Tarte True Blood makeup from sephora.com. I'm so excited!!!! I am getting the palette and the lip tint. I may or may not get the cheek tint, since I tend to prefer powder blushes. But YAY Tarte and YAY True Blood!!!

This is my Gamma mani. I used two coats of Illamasqua Gamma and then one coat of CND Effects Sapphire Sparkle.

Gamma is a bold neon orange - however, it doesn't dry matte like most neons.

I can't say that my pictures accurately portray the color, but it is close. It looks more neon and less pumpkin in real life, if that makes sense.

The CND sparkle effect is pretty cool and also did not get accurately portrayed here, either! It's got a blue/pink flash.

The funny thing is that I fully intended to put a purple sparkle over Gamma, thinking that that would look really cool. I was rummaging around in my clear-ish sparkly-glittery drawer looking for one, came upon Sapphire Sparkle, and decided it looked pretty good (perhaps thinking that the combination of the pink and blue looked purple!).

After I put it on, I kind of thought, "Gee, I wish it was actually purple!" But, nonetheless, it looks pretty cool and somewhat purple.

Also, I want to say that Gamma does not really flatter my skin tone one bit. But that has never stopped me from wearing a polish before in my life. :)

There certainly could be worse choices and I think it was a fun change of pace.

Do you like to wear obnoxious oranges? Once in a while the mood strikes me, but overall I don't tend to reach for them as much.

A coworker of mine tried this on and she has golden tan skin. I gotta tell you it looked so stunning on her!

This was the one I wore today, until just recently when I changed it. It's two coats of Zoya Robyn with one coat of CND Effects Amethyst Sparkle.

I apologize that the pictures do not show the sparkle well at all! I took these in quite a hurry this morning. The sparkle was actually a very pretty pinkish purple.

Robyn looks more bold and slightly deeper toned in real life. It's mind-bogglingly bright - obnoxious, really.

I like it! It applied very well. And I still think CND Effects are super cool and fun, even though you just have to take my word for it on this one.

Last night I was pondering what to do about my awesome Smokin' Hot mani, which was slightly beaten up (more than I care for), and cleverly decided to look at my CND Effects collection.

I settled on Emerald Shimmer, added a coat, and voila!

It's SO nice. I absolutely love the result. I was worried that the shimmer might look streaky, but it applied so perfectly.

I also applied a coat of regular top coat over, and it took too long to dry, so I ended up with some dents and sheet marks. Sorry about that! In any case, I am definitely going to be playing with my CND Effects more in the near future. They rock my world. :)

I only have indoor pictures of this beautiful combo, but they still showcase the greatness of two new polishes. I layered CND Effects in Ice Blue Shimmer over OPI Sapphire in the Snow.

The shimmer is very tiny and almost looks like pearl. It turned the blurpleness of Sapphire in the Snow into full on gawgeous deep blue.

Love me some blue shimmah!

I bought several of the CND Effects polishes recently and am super happy to have them. You know how I love to layer!

I'm glad a nail polish company decided to embrace a concept that I've been championing for years! Yay layers!

Here I did Urban Outfitters Green 4, an army-green sort of jelly.  I needed three coats.  The brush was fairly awful - big and fluffy like with one long wonky piece sticking out.  The application wasn't really terrific either, but I made it work.

This shade of green is definitely not very flattering on me, but hey, I do what I want!!


Then I added a coat of CND Okie Dokey Artichokey.  Oh it was so purty!  Applied perfectly, too.

Unfortunately some bubbles were coming up and apparently could not be stopped.  Oh the tragedy!!

A really terrific gal from across the country sent me this polish out of the kindness of her heart!  Thank you, Kris!!  I love, love, love it.
