DizzyNails

Are you dizzy with excitement about nail polish?

Many of you already know about Rainbow Honey's latest collection, Summer Mixtape, which launched just a few days ago.  Here is a little review of the three polishes I have.  I was sent Control, Shark Attack, and Elevate.  Imagine how pleased I was to open up these beauties!!
This is two coats of Control, a glorious neon pink shimmer.  I did use top coat here, as it dried matte due to being a neon.  Application was easy and smooth.
This color is so summery and beautiful and I love the addition of iridescent shimmer bits (always and forever)!
Putting a coat of Elevate over top of Control seemed the natural and right thing to do!  Elevate has really fun matte glitters including circles and triangles.  So cool!  I literally slapped a coat on not carefully at all and am happy with the results.  (No top coat used here, but I certainly would if I was doing this for a mani.)
I really like Elevate and anticipate it being a great topper over many colors.
With Shark Attack, I opted for a blue base, using two coats of Urban Decay Chaos.  As an aside, I love Chaos, but why does it smell like crazy toxic onions?!  Shark Attack is blue, silver, and red glitters primarily, all swimming in a blue jelly base.  See the little "shark fin" triangle on my middle finger?
I love the teeny red glitters in Shark Attack and I think the name and concept of this polish are really rad!  If you are curious about wearing this one on its own, I'm sure you could, but I decided not to since the jelly base looks pretty sheer.  This one I also applied very haphazardly!  No problems, issues, or complaints here.  I used a coat of top coat here - it was needed.  I would have added a coat of Gelous under that for a mani, just to get everything extra smooth.

Now for the exciting part!  There is a discount code for Rainbow Honey!  Use MIXTAPE20 to get 20% off your next order.  WOOHOO!  This code expires 8/31/2014.  I think an early birthday order may be in my future.  :)  You can see all that Rainbow Honey has to offer at their site here.

Thank you so very much to Rainbow Honey for sending me these polishes to review.  I really appreciate it and keep up the great work on such super cool colors, glitters, and concepts!  All the opinions in this review are honest and my own.  While I am happy to receive these nail polishes free of charge, I am not paid to do this post or review.

It's been a busy summer so far.  I'm still hoping very much to get back in the groove of more regular posting.  I hope that everyone out there is doing well and enjoying all the pretty polish!  XOXO

A happy and early Fourth to everyone!  I'm wearing two coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Wet Suit topped with a coat of Finger Paints Red, White, and Hue.  I finished with a coat of Starlight & Sparkles Crystal top coat.  Great application on all things mentioned!  And now I'm ready for some time off and some fireworks!  I hope you all have a great holiday.  :)

I used to hate big brushes, and that most definitely included Dior's newer big brush.
This is two SUPER EASY, dare I say MAJESTIC coats of Psychedelic Orange.  And yes, I kind of love that dang big brush now.  It just went on so effortlessly.
The formula on this polish is absolutely superb.  It's a creme but with the tiniest amount of basically imperceptible shimmer.  The application, opacity, smoothness, finish, and wear of Psychedelic Orange is basically perfect.
I've been on a bit of a coral binge for the past year or so now, and this color definitely makes me happy.
The wear time was great, also, thanks to my favorite top coat, Starlight and Sparkles Crystal.  I actually just ordered more of it today!  I've been getting a full week's wear out of nearly all of my manis now.

I am currently sporting China Glaze Liquid Crystal as my mani.  I used three coats of the polish, one coat of Gelous, and a coat of Starlight and Sparkles Crystal top coat.  Application was super easy.
I've been on a creme binge for a while now, so I wanted to break with a really, really good glitter.  Success!
I tried to capture the really cool duochrome shift to purple and pink, but it's so tough and I was working with late day lighting in most of these.  I'm sure you can see it well enough in the bottle, though.
 I'm in love with this!
I still have some of the other Prismatic Chroma Glitters that I've not yet worn.  What's your favorite?

Hey, y'all!  It's time for a posty post.  I've been such a full-time, hardcore slacker-oo lately.  Partly I'd like to blame the fact that I get longer wear-time with my manis (thanks to some awesome top coat action).  Partly I blame grief.  And mostly, I'm just being lazy, I think.
This is I Love Nail Polish Mutagen.  I'm pretty sure it was three coats.  I finished with my new favorite thang, the Starlight and Sparkles Crystal top coat.  That stuff is the shiznit for me.
These pictures don't even begin to capture the gorgeousness of Mutagen!  You know the drill.  Holo + Duo = heaven in your eyeballs.
Below I did two coats of Cult Nails Wack Slacks.  Again, topped with S&S Crystal top coat.  I needed a mani that would wear well for a trip, and this did just that.  I got just under a week with it.
The formula is great on Wack Slacks.  Very opaque and also relatively easy to clean up!  I think it could be a one-coater for sure, if you are careful with your application.
I wore this to my grandfather's funeral.  No particular reason - I just wanted something moody yet comforting.  It was good for that for me.
I hope everyone is doing well out there and I also hope to post more, more regularly, more sooner.  Ha!  You get what I'm saying.  Thanks for reading this, if you did.  :)

Nation!  It's good to be back.  I'm going to dive right in to this awesome and (I think) rather beautiful review of Starlight and Sparkles polishes.  Brace yourselves!

What you've seen above is two coats of Shadow Sapphire.  For all of these swatches I've used the Butter London Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat and I've topped everything with one coat of Starlight and Sparkles Crystal top coat (unless otherwise specified).  Shadow Sapphire applied quite easily and is really opaque.  It looks like smoky dark gray with a hint of glowy sapphire blue.

Above, you've just seen two easy coats of Shadow Emerald.  I would call it a smoky gray with a hint of glowy emerald.  Application was also a breeze on this one.

This is two coats of Shadow Ruby.  Again, absolutely great application and opacity.  The brushes are very nice and easy to use as well, if anyone is wondering.  I'd say they are a medium, standard sort of size and thickness.  Shadow Ruby is a beautiful mix of smokiness and a touch of ruby.  It would sometimes lean a bit brown, and other times seem to show a sort of mauve tone.  I like this one quite a lot!  That concludes the Shadow Gem trio portion.  These all make lovely bases for layering, as you soon will see!

Here is two coats of Obsidian.  This polish is a near-black.  And you all probably know by now I sure love me some almost-blacks!  This is no exception.  It has some delicate, fine blue shimmers that aren't showing too well in my photos.  This would be a great option if you want to wear a softer black or even if you love wearing plain black cremes but loathe the application process where you have to be so careful and tidy near the cuticles!  Obsidian is a delight to apply and didn't require the nerve-wracking holding of the breath that sometimes pure blacks do.  The little bit of clean up I had to do was a breeze, as well.  Good stuff!

I had to include pictures of Obsidian without any top coat because, well, just look at it.  It's got this amazing and lovely smooth texture all to its own.  I was rather mesmerized by it.  It definitely reminds me of...something...which I can't seem to verbalize.  But I really dig it.  Very smooth.  Obsidian is not currently available for sale, but it could be soon!  What do you think?  Would you want to add it to your collection?

Onto a different grouping!  These next ones are shimmer top coats called the Bespell set.  Above, I have one coat of Spellbind over top of a coat of Cult Nails Nevermore (black creme).  I've put Crystal top coat on all these as well for extra glossiness.  Spellbind gives a beautiful cobalt blue to violet purple duochrome sparkle.

Here's where I started to have fun.  Instead of continuing the trend of my usual and boring layering over the standard black creme, I've deviated!  Above is a coat of Charm layered over top of two coats of Shadow Sapphire.  Hello, Gorgeous!  I absolutely love this.  The smoky yet sufficiently dark base gives a really neat quality to the overall look.  I feel like it's more forgiving, too, versus standard pure black.  I love the mix of pinky-purple shimmer with the grayish blue base.

This is a coat of Bewitch over two coats of Shadow Emerald.  It's super mega glowy and sparkly.  I don't think it would look too different over black, but again, I am sure that the smoky base here is providing a bit of a forgiving softness (and an additional hint of green).

Above is a coat of Enchant over two coats of Shadow Ruby.  It's a softer blue-pink-purple shimmer.  This is just too beautiful!

And because I love me some blue iridescent shimmer over a nude, above I have layered a coat of Ensorcell over top of my favorite nude, Sephora by OPI XOX, Betsey (two coats).  It's really glowy and pearly looking.

Last up is Legend of Mermaid.  This one is a glass fleck topper that is a genius blend of the pigments used in Splash Dream, Ever Blue, and Star Jewel.  I've layered one coat of Legend of Mermaid over two coats of Obsidian.  It's like sugar coated candy crystals of goodness!  Yum!

Every single one of these Starlight polishes applied just perfectly.  Crystal top coat provides excellent shine, dries really quickly, does not bubble (hello, I think I love you), and is generally a wonderful top coat.  I know I liked it a lot before when I tried it out, so I am looking forward to testing it again for manicures to see how long it wears on me.  I have the memory of a flea.  But I'm excited to use it again and have a big ol' bottle of it now.  :)

You can find Issa's stellar creations at her Etsy shop HERE.  These are without a doubt some of my most beloved indies because, well, they are just so dang awesome!  I'm pretty picky, too, so I don't say that lightly.  I hope you get a chance to fall in love with them like I have.

Thank you, Issa, for sending these to me for review.  My opinions are honest and my own.

Also, I've changed the settings on my comments just slightly because I was getting absolutely pummeled with spam comments and it was becoming disheartening for me.  I hope that it doesn't negatively affect any of you and I assure you that I would be ecstatic to get a comment from a real, live reader!  (And I'm hoping and praying that I still have a few of those!)

This Is Me!

My photo
I love color, beauty, creativity, animals, and being care-free. I'm not care-free, in reality, but would like to think it's an attainable state of being! I do like to bend the rules when it serves a greater purpose and I'm all about being authentic. Here I am, take me or leave me! I suppose I'd call myself a sensitive soul. I think I feel things more deeply and ponder things more thoroughly than your average bear.
